A document is an ENOVIA container for files.
Files must reside in documents and do not exist independently in the ENOVIA Vault.
Files in a document can be versioned, but versions are not required.
Documents do not get versioned, except for Release Documents where both the document and the files within can be versioned.
A document can be added to folder(s) for organizational purposes or can simply exist in the ENOVIA Vault.
Product and project documentation captured in PLM, instead of email or other ad-hoc methods, allows the entire company and extended enterprise to take advantage of shared information.
A single source of truth prevents team members from overwriting each others' information when collaborating.

Release documents describe a part and are automatically created for mechanical or electrical parts. Typically, they are released into Production using an Engineering Change (EC). |
