A product configuration is the bridge between the marketing facing and engineering sides of ENOVIA.
A product configuration connects a part on the engineering side to a product line on the marketing (Product Hierarchy) side.
Product configurations in ENOVIA connect EBOMs that define the engineering content of our products to the marketing information that define the product in the marketplace.
Product configurations attach sellable parts (Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU) to Product Models in the Product Hierarchy.
All product configurations are a child of a parent Product Model in the Product Hierarchy.
There is always a one to one relationship between a product configuration and a sellable part.
The product configuration always references the latest revision of the corresponding sellable part.
Product configurations are not versioned.
Product Models are created by marketing in MDM.
See Accessing Product Configurations for help finding and displaying Product Configurations.
The product configuration includes:
On Properties Page:

Related Hierarchy Items displays Supporting Relationships:
Machine Types, Machine Type Models, and product configurations that use the product configuration (Supports).
Product configurations that are used by the context product configuration (Is Supported By).
Required for product configurations of CRUs and FRUs.
Directly Related shows supporting connections made to the context product configuration.
All Related shows all supporting connections, including those made to the parent Machine Type Model, that carry through.
Related Parts displays part information of product configurations that are used by (Is Supported By) and that use (Supports) the context product configuration.
Directly Related shows supporting connections made to the context product configuration.
All Related shows all supporting connections, including those made to the parent Machine Type Model that carry through.
Supporting Materials is a grid browser for making connections between supporting product configurations and the product configurations that use them.
Where Used
The product configuration takes the ENOVIA Name (part number) of the connected Sellable Item, FRU or CRU.
When a product configuration is created without connection to a Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU, a meaningful name or auto-name may be assigned.
The name of such a product configuration changes to the name of the Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU when connected.
NOTE: If a meaningful name is given to identify the product configuration, it is advisable to copy this name to the Description field so the information is available for cross-reference once the Sellable Item, FRU or CRU is connected and the name changes.
