The ENOVIA role of Product Manager, EC Analyst, or Service Engineer is required to create a product configuration.
If you do not see the command, Create Product Configuration . . . during any of the processes described, below, contact PLM Support to check your system roles.
Different locations to create a product configuration:
During part creation.
From the sellable part (Identity = Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU)
From the parent Product Model
On Product Configurations page
Using the global Actions menu, while on any page.
Product Configurations can also be imported into ENOVIA using data on a spreadsheet: See Importing Product Configurations.
To connect a sellable part (Identity = Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU) to Product Hierarchy, create a product configuration:
Parts initially display on the Properties page.
Click on the page tool bar.
Select Create Product Configuration . . . .
The Create Product Configuration window displays.
The Name field is filled in and may not be edited because a product configuration created from a part takes the part name.
Click the Parent Product Model browse/choose button () to search and select.
Make selections for the required and applicable optional fields.
Click Done.
The part Properties page refreshes; the Product Configuration field displays a link to the new product configuration.
Click the product configuration name link to view or edit in a new window. See Edit a Product Configuration.
A product configuration may be created in the context of a Product Model:
Access the parent Product Model for the new product configuration.
Click Product Configurations on the Product Model category tree.
The Product Configurations page displays.
Click on the page tool bar.
Select Create.
The Create Product Configuration window displays.
The Parent Product Model field is filled in with the current Product Model.
Enter data for the required and applicable optional fields.
The Name entered for the product configuration will automatically change to the name of the part, once connected.
NOTE: If a meaningful name is given to identify the product configuration, it is advisable to copy this name to the Description field so the information is available for cross-reference once the Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU is connected and the name changes.
Click Done.
The Product Model Product Configurations page refreshes, including the newly created product configuration.

A product configuration can be created without being in the context of a part or a Product Model.
A Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU may be connected at the time of creation or added later.
To create a product configuration:
Select Project Management App > Product > Product Configurations.
Click on the page tool bar.
Select Create.
The Create Product Configuration window displays.
Enter a Name.
The name entered for the product configuration will automatically change to the name of the part, once connected.
NOTE: If a meaningful name is given to identify the product configuration, it is advisable to copy this name to the Description field so the information is available for cross-reference once a part is connected and the name changes.
Click the Parent Product Model browse/choose button () to search and select.
Enter data for the required and applicable optional fields.
Click Done.
The Product Configurations page refreshes, including the newly created product configuration.

The global tool bar may be accessed while viewing any page in the system.
To create Product Configuration using the global tool bar:
Select > Product > Create Product Configuration . . .on the ENOVIA Top Bar.
The Create Product Configuration window displays.
Enter a Name.
The name entered for the product configuration will automatically change to the name of the part, once connected.
NOTE: If a meaningful name is given to identify the product configuration, it is advisable to copy this name to the Description field so the information is available for cross-reference once a part is connected and the name changes.
Click the Parent Product Model browse/choose button () to search and select.
Enter data for the required and applicable optional fields.
