Connect a Part to an Existing Product Configuration
Connect a Part to an Existing Product ConfigurationA sellable part may be connected to the Product Hierarchy through an existing product configuration -- either from the context of the product configuration or from the part.
NOTE: If the product configuration was given a meaningful name or was auto-named without connection to a part, the name will change to that of the Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU when connected. For reference, it is advisable to copy meaningful name information to the Description field.
To connect a Sellable Item, FRU, or CRU to an existing product configuration:
Parts initially display on the Properties page.
Click 
on the page tool bar.
Select Add Existing Product Configuration . . . to connect the part to an existing product configuration.
A new product configuration for the context part may also be created here. See Create a Product Configuration.
The Find window displays with the Type field set to Product Configuration.
Enter search criteria for the product configuration.
Click Find.
Select the product configuration and click Submit.
The part: Properties page refreshes; the Product Configuration field displays a link to the newly connected product configuration.
The product configuration assumes the name of the newly connected part.
