Parts with an Identity of FRU or CRU require that the connected product configuration have at least one supporting relationship to a Machine Type, Machine Type Model, or product configuration that uses it.
This requirement is in addition to the requirement that the product configuration be in the Active state to promote the connected part.
Although not required by ENOVIA, a Supply or Option product configuration should also be connected in a supporting relationship to the Machine Type(s), Machine Type Model(s), or product configuration(s) that use it.
The supporting relationship is in addition to the parent – child relationship in the Product Hierarchy and the defining relationship of a Regulated product configuration to a Machine Type Model.
Supporting relationships may be created at the Machine Type, Machine Type Model, or product configuration level:
A FRU, CRU, option, or supply product configuration connected to a Machine Type, supports all Machine Type Models and product configurations under that Machine Type.
A FRU, CRU, option, or supply product configuration connected to a Machine Type Model, supports all product configurations under that Machine Type Model.
A FRU, CRU, option, or supply product configuration connected to a product configuration supports just that product configuration.
Machine Type and Machine Type Model may only be Supported By product configurations.
Machine Type and Machine Type Model do not support any other items.
See Supporting Product Configurations and Supporting Parts to view.
Only product configurations may Support a Machine Type, Machine Type Model, or product configuration.
Product configurations may Support or be Supported By another product configuration.
See Create a Supporting Relationship.
Both Machine Types and Machine Type Models category trees include Supporting Parts links.
Supporting Parts displays the part information of service parts, supplies, and options that work with products of the respective Machine Type or Machine Type Model.
See Supporting Product Configurations for supporting product information.
