  Create a Supporting Relationship

Supporting relationships are found in two places:

Supporting relationships may be created in either location.

Before establishing a supporting relationship for a FRU or CRU or for an option or supply Sellable Item, the part must be connected to a product configuration.

Associate a FRU, CRU, Supply or Option Product Configuration to a Machine Type Model or Product Configuration

To associate a product configuration of a FRU, CRU, or option or supply Sellable Item to the Machine Type Model or product configuration that it supports:

  1. Navigate to the product configuration of the FRU, CRU, supply, or option.

  2. Click Related Hierarchy Items on the category tree.

The Related Hierarchy Items page displays on the tab last displayed.

  1. Select the Directly Related tab, if not already displayed.

  2. Click on the page tool bar.

  3. Select Supports on the Actions menu.

The Find window displays.

The Find window Type defaults to Machine Type Model.

  1. Use the Type drop down list to select a different type, if needed.

A FRU, CRU, supply, or option may support a Machine Type Model or product configuration.

  1. Enter search criteria for the supported Machine Type Model or product configuration.

  2. Click Find.

  3. Select the supported Machine Type Model or product configuration.

  4. Click Submit.

The Related Hierarchy Items tab refreshes to show the new item with a Relationship of Supports.

 

Add a Supporting Service Part, Supply, or Option to a Machine Type Model or Product Configuration

You may also begin with a Machine Type Model or product configuration and add product configurations that support it.

  1. Navigate to the Machine Type Model or product configuration to which you wish to add a supporting service part, supply, or option.

  1. On a Machine Type Model, select the Supporting Product Configurations on the category tree, then select Directly Related.

or

  1. On a product configuration, select Related Hierarchy Items on the category tree, then select Directly Related.

  2. Click on the page tool bar.

  3. Select Is Supported By on the Actions menu.

The Find window displays.

The Type field is set to Product Configuration.

  1. Enter search criteria for the supporting product configuration.

  1. Click Find.

  2. Select the supporting product configuration.

  3. Click Submit.

The Related Hierarchy Items or Supporting Product Configurations page refreshes to show the new product configuration with a Relationship of Is Supported By.
