  Create an EBOM / Add Components to an Assembly

The Part EBOM PowerView allows two methods of adding components to build the structure of an EBOM:

Add Existing allows you to add components to the selected EBOM level using:

Add Existing Enhanced allows you to locate and insert components using:

Add Existing Enhanced displays these components on the left of a split screen that allows you to insert selected items at various levels of the EBOM structure on the right.

 

Add Existing

To insert components at a selected level of the EBOM structure on the part EBOM PowerView:

  1. Access the assembly part.

  1. Select EBOM PowerView on the Part Category Tree.

The EBOM PowerView displays the tab you last viewed.

  1. Select the EBOMs tab.

The EBOMs tab displays the current part and the components and sub-assemblies beneath it.

Click an expand button to view more layers.

  1. Select a check box for the level of the EBOM under which to add component(s).

The Add Existing command is not available until an item in the EBOM structure is selected.

  1. Click on the page tool bar or on the menu.

The Build Structure window displays.

The Search Form>Find Parts is the default view.

Click on the Search page tool bar and select Saved Queries, Collection, or Clipboard to add parts from those options.

  1. Enter search criteria for the part(s) to add (or select a Query Name or Collection Name from which to add parts).

If you select >Clipboard, the clipboard contents immediately display.

  1. Click Find.

The search results, saved search, collection or clipboard contents display.

  1. Use the check boxes to select the parts to insert in the EBOM.

The Connect Selected button is not available until an item on the list is selected.

  1. Click on the page tool bar.

The Build Structure - Enter Relationship Attributes window displays.

  1. Enter any required information in the Enter Relationship Attributes window.

For information on the attributes to enter, see EBOM Attributes.

  1. Click Done.

The Enter Relationship Attributes window closes.

The Search - Build Structure window remains open.

  1. Select Revise Search to find more parts to add to the EBOM or close the Search window.

Click the EBOMs tab or / to refresh the EBOMs table and show the newly added parts.

Add Existing Enhanced

To create an EBOM using a split window (Source and Target) where you can add items dynamically at various levels of the structure:

  1. Access the assembly part.

  1. Select EBOM PowerView on the Part Category Tree.

The EBOM PowerView displays the tab you last viewed.

  1. Select the EBOMs tab.

The EBOMs tab displays the current part and the components and sub-assemblies beneath it.

Click an expand button to view more layers.

  1. Click on the page tool bar or on the menu.

The Search - Build Structure window displays.

The Search Form>Find Parts is the default view.

Click on the Search page tool bar and select Saved Queries, Collection, or Clipboard to add parts from those options.

  1. Enter search criteria for the part(s) to add (or select a Query Name or Collection Name from which to add parts).

If you select >Clipboard, the clipboard contents immediately display.

  1. Click Find.

The Build Structure window displays:

EBOM From is the default Relationship on the Source side page tool bar.

  1. On the left (Source), select an item to add to the EBOM.

  2. On the right (Target), select an item to connect to (with either a parent or child Relationship, as described above).

  3. Click (Connect selected to target structure).

You may also use (Replace Object) to replace an item in the Target structure with the selected Source item.

The Build Structure - Enter Relationship Attributes window displays.

  1. Enter any required information in the Enter Relationship Attributes window.

For information on the attributes to enter, see EBOM Attributes.

  1. Click Done.

The Enter Relationship Attributes window closes.

The Build Structure window refreshes showing the added object(s) on the Target side.

  1. You may repeat this process with more items on the Source side or click Revise Search to find other items to add to the EBOM.

  2. Close the Build Structure window when finished.

The EBOM PowerView re-displays showing the new parts in the EBOM structure.
