Revising a part creates a new version that may be modified.
The Design Engineer or Supplier Engineer role in the part RDO is required to revise the part.
A part must be in the Complete, Approved, or Release states to be revised.
New revisions may be created directly (see below) or through the use of an EC.
New part revisions of parts in an EC For Revise are created upon promotion of the EC from Submit to Evaluate.
Part revisions may be deleted and/or the revision level incremented to prevent use of a rejected revision level.
Production parts connected to an EC may be revised again prior to EC completion, when the part is in the Approved state.
See Stacked ECs for more information.
Select Revisions in the Part Category Tree.
The part Revisions page displays.
Click on the page tool bar.
The Revise window displays.
Revise part details as needed.
See Create a Part for information on part attributes.
For a Development part, you can enter a Custom Revision Level or allow the default to the next revision level.
Development part revision levels may switch from alphabetical (bubble levels) to numeric designations at any time.
A Development part with a numeric revision level does not require a new revision when going to production.
Production parts automatically increment to the next numeric revision level.
Click Done.
The new revision of the part is displayed on the Revisions page.
