Parts and specifications are attached to an EC on the Affected Items page on the EC category tree.
To alter the Requested Change for the attached parts, see Requested Change, below.

This method of adding parts to an EC requires the user be a Design Engineer in the part RDO.
Users may add parts to an EC For Quote Only without DE in the part RDO. See below.
ECs initially display the EC Properties.
Select Affected Items on the category tree.
Select the Affected Items View.
Click on the page tool bar.
The Search window displays.
The Type defaults to Part|Part Specification.
Enter Search Refinement to find part(s) to add to the EC or select (for Clipboard and Collections) from which to add parts.
When selected, Collection or Clipboard contents immediately display in the Search Results.
Adding Search Refinement and clicking , narrows the results.
Click to Search.
Use the check boxes to select the parts to add to the EC.
Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
The EC Affected Items page redisplays showing the added part(s).
The Requested Change field has differing default values depending on the part policy of the part/specification and the lifecycle state.
Review and alter the Requested Change if needed.
Users may add parts to an EC outside their RDO For Quote Only.
The Requested Change value of For Quote Only for parts added in this way may not be changed.

The Requested Change field is automatically set to For Quote Only and may not be changed.
Requested Change sets the purpose of the EC for each part/specification:
Access an EC Affected Items page.
Select the Affected Items View.
Scroll to the right, as needed, to view the Requested Change field and verify for each Affected Item.
Development parts may be attached to an EC for Complete, for Revise, or for Release into Production.
Production parts may be attached to an EC for Revise, for Release, for Field Use Only, or for Obsolescence.
All of the above options are for creating and/or Completing/Releasing new part revisions.
Two additional options do not involve new part revisions, for use when parts are not changing, but need to be added to an EC:
For Quote Only -- to get quotes from suppliers on parts that are not changing.
For Process Only -- to collaborate with suppliers on manufacturing process changes involving parts that are not changing.
See Quote/Process Only, below, for more details on using these values.
Click on the page tool bar.
The Edit All window displays.
In the Column field, select the column you wish to edit.
You may also use the drop down list in the Requested Change column to edit each item individually.
Click to select a new Value for the column.
Click Apply to All.
You may select individual items and click Apply to Selected.
The new value displays for the selected column.
Click Done.
The changes are reflected on the Affected Items list.
These Requested Change values function differently than the other values:
Only available on the latest revision of a part, which must be in the Approved or Release state.
Once set, the Quote Only and Process Only values may not be changed.
Parts with these values must be removed from the EC and re-added to this or another EC to alter the Requested Change.
Parts may be added for Quote Only by users not in the part RDO using the For Quote Only button, above.
Disposition Codes for parts are set to No Impact.
Parts may be added to more than one EC.
Parts are not subject to revision rolling.
Parts in Approved state are not promoted by the EC completion.
