EDI and PreRelease Overview
EDI and PreRelease OverviewMCAD integration with ENOVIA PLM allows uploading files from engineering design software (computer assisted design or CAD) to ENOVIA PLM.
TeamCenter manages the CAD part revisions and communication with ENOVIA PLM.
The individual processes are defined, below.
PreRelease in TeamCenter applies PreRelease status to the TeamCenter revision and uploads to ENOVIA the official release source documentation for an EC.
The ENOVIA part CAD Spec receives:
A PDF (*.pdf) of the drawing;
An EC markup PDF (if markups exist on layer 242);
A JT (*.jt) file (assuming it is a solid).
PreRelease status locks the files in TeamCenter to prevent editing or deleting.
When the EC in ENOVIA with the PreRelease part is Complete, the TeamCenter part status updates to Release.

EDI uploads pre-production data to ENOVIA, in the part CAD Spec, with optional file formats in CAD Derived.
For a previously PreReleased part revision, EDI only uploads the optional file formats to CAD Derived.
EDI does not automatically put any statuses in TeamCenter.
After uploading files with EDI, the CAD user should manually move the TeamCenter revision to Vendor state to protect the source data from deletion or modification.
