Costs

  Edit / Revise Costs

The Cost Provider, Location/Subsupplier (or Cost Family), and Cost Value Types are identifying features of a part cost and may not be edited.

There are two ways to edit costs:

Costs may only be edited in the Create state. If you try to edit an Active state cost, you will be prompted to create a new cost revision.

The Include Children In Rollup (ICIR) and Location Type settings may be toggled on Create or Active state costs without editing the details of a cost.

Multiple costs may be created, updated, or revised at once using the Cost Import Template.

Toggle Include Children In Rollup (ICIR) and Location Type

These two settings may be toggled on the cost Properties page without editing the details of the cost:

Location Type may also be toggled on the part Costs page.

A confirmation message explains what you are about to do.

Edit Multiple Costs

  See View Part Costs.

  1. Use the Table pulldown list to select Expanded, displaying more columns of cost data.

Parts may have costs of different Cost Value Types, from various Cost Providers, for different projects.

The same Cost Provider may have different costs for different projects using the same part.

Cost Family (in the Location/Subsupplier field) ensures a cost is applicable to the correct project.

  1. Use the Search button to filter the Flat BOM costs by Cost Family, in the Location/Subsupplier field.

It is important to assign a Cost Family when creating costs and to use the Cost Family to filter the Flat BOM costs -- ensuring that you work only with your costs.

You may build a Complex Search to further narrow the list of costs.

Common attributes to add to your cost filter:

  1. After filtering your costs, click to enter Edit mode.

Active state costs may not be edited, other than Make/Buy and ICIR. Other fields of Active state costs will not be editable.

To change the attributes of an Active state cost, edit the individual cost, as described above, and you will be prompted to create a new cost revision.

  1. Scroll to the right to view the editable attributes and enter data as required.

A change is committed as soon as you to move to a different field or click anywhere else.

  1. When edits are complete, click to return to Read (normal) mode.
