A Cost Family is a special location created for a supplier (or "Lexmark," for internally generated costs) to distinguish costs for different projects.
The Cost Family will generally be the external code name of the engine program with the words "Cost Family", such as "Callisto Cost Family".
The same Cost Family name will be used for each supplier in a project and for internally generated costs when the Cost Provider is "Lexmark."
Contact the PLM Support Hotline to have a Cost Family created for each of your suppliers.
The Cost Family must be set at cost creation. The attribute may not be added or changed later.
The use of Cost Family for each cost ensures that projects using the same parts and suppliers can identify their costs and that projects creating internally generated costs -- such as Target or Estimate costs -- where "Lexmark" is the Cost Provider, can tell them apart.
Use of Cost Family should significantly reduce the chance that costs for one project are accidentally modified by members of another project.
Use of Cost Family reduces the complexity of specifying cost roll up preferences.
Current implementation in ENOVIA uses the Location/Subsupplier field, under Cost Provider, for the Cost Family.
Cost Family is listed under Location.
If a supplier has different costs for a part when acquired from different subsuppliers, the Location/Subsupplier field can not accommodate both the subsupplier and Cost Family information. Contact the PLM Support Hotline in this case.
To include a Cost Family when creating a cost:
After choosing a Cost Provider (Lexmark, or a supplier, contract manufacturer, partner, or vendor), click the Location/Subsupplier browse/choose button .
The Find window defaults to Location.
To view all the locations (Cost Families and other locations) for a Cost Provider, search on the wildcard " * " in the Name field.
You may search for " *Cost Family " to list all of the Cost Families associated with the selected Cost Provider.
You may search for your Cost Family name.
Use the radio buttons to select a Location in the search results.
Click Done.
