The Material Hierarchy of large numbers of parts may be set simultaneously:
Load the parts that require Material Hierarchy settings in a Collection or Park Workbench.
Access the Collection if required or proceed in the Part Workbench window, View: Default.
Select the parts that require Material Hierarchy setting.
Click in the page tool bar.
Select Edit Material Hierarchy on the menu.
The Edit Material Hierarchy window displays.
Click on the Material Line drop down list to select.
The Material Series drop down changes with the Material Line selection to display only valid Series in the selected Line.
Click on the Material Series drop down list to select.
The Material Family drop down changes with the Material Series selection to display only valid Families in the selected Series.
Click on the Material Family drop down list to select.
Material Hierarchy settings for the selected parts are complete.
See below for exceptions.
Click Done.
Parts in the Collection with all three levels of the Material Hierarchy set through connection to the Product Hierarchy ignore any changes.
The Material Hierarchy of parts with the Returned Item Identity may never be edited.
Parts in the Collection with the Material Line set to Service Parts or Options through connection the Product Hierarchy may not have this setting altered:
If the Material Line for these parts is retained in the Edit Material Hierarchy window, the Material Series and Material Family settings are committed to these parts.
If the Material Line for these parts is changed in the Edit Material Hierarchy window, all levels of Material Hierarchy settings are ignored for these parts.
