Part Specifications

  Create a Part Specification

You can create a part specification for a single part, with the same name as the part, or for global use, with a unique name.

Single Part Specification

When the part specification applies to a single part, create on the part Specifications page.

This method gives the specification the same Name as the part.

  1. Access the part.

The part Properties window displays.

  1. Select Specifications on the Part Category Tree.

The Specifications page displays.

  1. Click > Create Part Specification. . . on the page tool bar.

The Create Part  Specification window displays

The Connect To field defaults to the context part and can not be changed.

  1. Select a Type using the drop down list.

  2. Enter an appropriate Title for the part specification.

  1. Enter a Description, as needed.

  2. Change or select a Design Responsibility using the browse/choose button .

The Design Responsibility of specifications you create is set to your default RDO, if established. See Set a Default RDO.

Only projects in which you have the Design Engineer role are allowed.

In some cases a part specification may be owned by a different RDO than that of the part -- such as the Design Center owning Artwork.

  1. Click Done.

The specification document container is added to the part.

The specification does not initially contain any files. See Add a New File to a Document.
