  Clone a Part

Part reuse is a major initiative at Lexmark.

The Design Engineer or Supplier Engineer system role is required to clone any part to which you have access.

The Design Engineer or Supplier Engineer role in an RDO project is required to assign that Design Responsibility to the new, cloned part.

A part may be cloned at two locations:

A part Properties page:

On any page:

  1. Select Create Part Clone. . . at either of the above locations.

The Clone Part window displays.

  1. Enter or update the part details (see Create a Part for additional part details):

Use the Browse/Choose button to search for and select the part.

  • If you began in the context of a part Properties page, that part is listed already.

  • The Browse/Choose button may still be used to search for and select a new part.

The SAP Plant field shows the SAP locations for the part being cloned.

    • The locations are shown in gray and the Browse/Choose button is inactive until the SAP Plant check box is selected.

  • Click the Browse/Choose button to display the Select Plants window.

  • Select or unselect locations to retain for the new, cloned part using the check boxes and click Submit.

  • To add new SAP Plants, finish creating the part clone and see Assign SAP Plants.

See Create a Part for the rest of the attributes that may be retained or changed from the cloned part.

  • Design Responsibility defaults to that of the part being cloned, and may be changed -- if you have the Design Engineer or Supplier Engineer role in that project -- otherwise a Design Responsibility for the newly cloned part must be selected.

  1. Click Done.

The Part Properties window of the new part displays.
