Object Access and Security Classification

An Access page, on the object category tree, determines who can see each object in ENOVIA:

A Person is any individual, Lexmark or non-Lexmark user in ENOVIA.

Company is the only Organization used for access.

An Organization is a group such as a Company, Business Unit, Department, or Plant.

Lexmark, or a supplier Company can be added as an Organization.

When an Company is on the access list of an object, EVERY person in the company can see the object.

Example: Adding Lexmark (Company) to the access list allows all Lexmark users to see the object.

The following variables are factors in determining the contents of an object Access list:

Lexmark users apply a Security setting during object creation, using the Security field.

The Security setting of Parts, Specifications, and Documents determines the object Access (on the object category tree).
The Security field defaults to Internal Use.

The Security field is hidden for non-Lexmark users.

When a non-Lexmark user creates an object, Internal Use is the automatic security setting.

All ENOVIA users, from any Company, can see the part.

Internal Use is the default setting for any object with security.

Access is controlled by Company only.
Lexmark Company (all Lexmark users) is automatically included on the Access list and can not be removed without changing the security setting.
Add the supplier Company for a supplier to be able to view the object.

Lexmark-Confidential increases the security of an object:

A Security Owner is the sole person responsible for controlling object access.
Either Company(s) or individual Persons may be added to Access by the Security Owner.
Lexmark Company (all Lexmark users) is automatically included on the Access list, but may be removed by the Security Owner.

Lexmark-Confidential-Restricted increases the security of an object further.

Only the Security Owner has visibility to the object when created.
Access may only be added to individual Persons only.
When security setting is changed to Lexmark-Confidential-Restricted, Company(s) are removed leaving only individual Persons .
